The Strokes will follow in the footsteps of such luminaries as, uh, The BoDeans by putting on a free show as part of the Auditorium Shores Stage Concert series at this year's South By Southwest Music Festival.
Pandemonium is set to ensue as Julian Casablancas and company descend upon the fest for their first SXSW appearance in 10 years to shamelessly promote their fourth LP, Angles. It will soon be known as "the one with the cover art that closely resembles a postmodern crossword puzzle." No, really.
According to The Strokes' management, the event requires "no badges, no lines, no nothin'!"
That sounds like a beer-battered recipe for disaster. Or at least one soaked in a lot of barbeque sauce.
Should you be willing to forgo free booze, Chinese food and copious amounts of the aforementioned barbeque in favor of a sneak preview of Angles, you're certifiably insane and will need all the help you can get.
The Strokes play the Auditorium Shores Stage at Lady Bird Lake on March 17. Angles will be released March 22.
