Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali khan detained in Delhi

Famous Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has been detained at the Delhi airport for allegedly carrying $124,000 in undeclared cash.

The singer was on his way to board a flight to Dubai on Sunday afternoon when he was stopped, officials said.

Mr Khan, 37, who has sung several Bollywood hits and performed in India in the past, had flown into Delhi from Karachi.

He is the nephew of Pakistani singing legend Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Sunday called the High Commissioner of Pakistan in Delhi, Shahid Malik, to inquire about Mr Khan's detention.

"The law will takes it course," news agency Press Trust of India quoted chairman of India's Central Board of Excise and Customs S Dutt Majumdar as saying.
